I am a massage therapist specialising in therapeutic and medical massage. Although I am also qualified to provide the relaxing wellness type of massage, most of my clients see me because they suffer from acute or chronic pain. Conventional medicine has often not helped them beyond offering pain killers and they are looking for a complementary treatment to help alleviate their pain and address some of the underlying issues causing it.
Medical massage can alleviate pain and discomfort in a wide range of cases including
- Anxiety and stress-related conditions
- Headaches and migraines
- Back pain and sciatica
- Repetitive strain injuries and carpal tunnel syndrome
- Digestive and bowel problems
- Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and ME
- Gynaecological conditions (such as painful periods)
- Temporomandibular joint disorders
- Respiratory conditions
- Sports and lifestyle injuries (such as tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, ankle and knee injuries)
I have a multi-disciplinary approach to health and illness, looking at a range of factors to not simply provide short-term relief but if possible address the underlying causes to build the foundation for a healthy mind and body. Although a symptomatic approach is useful for addressing pain and states of discomfort, a whole-person approach is required for treating many conditions in a sustainable way.
My aim is to help people feel happier and healthier.
What is medical massage?
Medical massage is not a type of massage but used to refer to massage that addresses specific problems to achieve specific outcomes. The conditions that can be helped may include medically diagnosed ones as well as ones that are medically uncategorised. During the treatments I apply a variety of massage techniques, including deep tissue massage, myofascial release and trigger point therapy.
(Please note that as a massage therapist I do not hold a medical degree and am not able to provide diagnosis or medical advice on any condition. If you are in any doubt about your symptoms or health you should consult your GP.)
Consultation is by appointment only. Appointments generally last between 30 and 50 minutes and cost £40. Some conditions require several follow-up treatments. This varies and can be discussed on your first visit.
Emergency Treatments – I will always try to find an appointment for a client who is in acute pain.
Home Visits – If you need a home visit please contact me for availability and fees.
If you are unable to attend an appointment 24 hours cancellation notice is required, otherwise a fee may be charged. Please remember that early cancellation may allow someone else in pain to be accommodated.
Currently payment is by cash or cheque only.
